Is this your first time for receiving Needles, Shiatsu and/or Massage?
Are you uncomfortable receiving insertive needle treatment?
Has it been a while between treatments?
If you have answered “Yes” then please read the following important guidelines and information:
- please finish any meals at least 30 minutes before your session time,
- please refrain from drinking alcohol or coffee 1-2 hours before the session,
- please wear loose, comfortable clothing if you are having a Traditional East Asian Medicine or Shiatsu treatment or bring a pair of loose pants to change into.
The session will generally require movement and stretches. If you have booked a TEAM session removal of clothing with consent may be required or “hitching” up of trouser legs etc for access to particular parts of the body.
Please allow yourself time to arrive in a relaxed manner and to leave in a relaxed manner. If you are rushed it may negate the effectiveness of the treatment on that day and it is best to have quiet time organised after your treatment. The ultimate scenario is to go home, lie down for 30 minutes, have a light meal and a restful day.
What if I don't like needles?
Then you are in luck! If you are uncomfortable with needles or do not wish to by treated with insertive needles there are many other options of treatment. There are non-insertive needles composed of various metals that are held just above the skin or lightly touching the skin that may be used. There are polarity tools such as the Ion Pumping Cords that regulate the ionic flow in the body and moxabustion. There are many tool choices to meet each individuals need. How will I feel after the treatment?
Most people experience a feeling of relaxation and being energised at the same time. They feel increased focus and decreased stress and/or pain relief depending on symptoms.
Occasionally there may be an exacerbation of symptoms in the first 24 hours which then subsides followed by feelings of increased wellbeing. If this does occur please let your practitioner know.
How many treatments do I need?
This is individual to everyone. For people with acute conditions it may take one to three (or more) sessions. For those with chronic conditions that wish for symptom relief, increased wellbeing with stabilised health it is generally advised to have ongoing sessions in order to create change and a new, more healthful pattern in the body. Remember that when one has had an illness or pain symptoms for a long period or time ie. 1-2 years or longer, it will take a period of time as well to heal. The healing routine generally includes lifestyle recommendations in addition to treatment leading to increased health and self awareness.
Increasing Self Awareness is the best healing modality.
